Satsuki Kusakabe is one of the protagonists in the film My Neighbor Totoro.

The film is mainly based around her, her sister Mei, and Totoro the forest spirit.

Personality

Satsuki is energetic, adventurous, feisty, and open-minded. She is capable of dealing with responsibility, as she cares for her younger sister, Mei while her mother is in hospital and her father works. She's innocent and free which is shown as she quickly accepts Totoro with zero fear. She is loyal and kind, which is shown in her care for Mei, as she acts as both a mother and sister figure to her in her mother's absence. She also responds well to other people and seems to have many friends.

Appearance

Satsuki has short, black hair, which is fairly messy and dark eyes. Her skin is pale and she's fairly thin. She's usually smiling and has a young, cheerful appearance. She wears a yellow shirt and an orange skirt.

Relationships

Mei Kusakabe

Satuski and Mei get along better than any other characters in the film, as they have a strong bond in a sisterly sense, but also in a mother and daughter sense. This is because Satsuki cares for Mei in a way a mother may, though they maintain their sisterly bond in the way they have fun together and play with Totoro together.

Satsuki and her father get on well, they do not argue and have a typical father daughter relationship.
